In this post, we’ll teach you what is Amazon PPC? how it works and its different strategies to sell successfully in 2023.
So, how does Amazon PPC work?
Amazon PPC (pay per click advertising) is when you target keywords, competitor ASINs, categories, interests, and events on Amazon (Events like a purchase)
To make it simple, when you want to get found for the product “beard straightener”, you should set up an Amazon PPC campaign targeting that word.
When you set up a campaign, aside from the targets (keywords, competitors, interests, etc.) it will ask for a “bid” and this bid will dictate if you get found or not & what placement.
Will it be at the top, in the middle, or at the bottom or sadly, you’ll not appear at all?
With placements, you can be placed in the topmost of the search, competitor listings, or even third-party websites.
The bidding strategy is another topic in itself but the basic premise is that Amazon is like an auction where you compete with other sellers for the customers’ attention in the search results, product pages, and 3rd party websites.
PPC stands for Pay Per Click.
As the name suggests, you’ll only pay when there a customer clicks on your ad.
It’s one of the most powerful tools in terms of reaching your target customers because:
- You can heavily narrow down your “targets”. You can bid on very descriptive keywords such as “cordless black hair straightener”
- It’s cost-effective as you only pay if there’s a click. Plus you can easily control the number of targets, bids, and budgets.
If you compare it to other popular marketing methods the difference is massive.
- For example, with influencer marketing, you need to pay the influencer upfront without a guarantee that they’ll generate sales.
- With Google & Facebook Ads, you add an additional step to the customer journey plus there’s added competition and more distraction to your customers.
Customers on Amazon are more or less ready to purchase.
When you use influencers or Facebook you’ll also reach those who just want to be entertained or merely scrolling.
If you manage your Amazon PPC costs well you can definitely grow fast and be a profitable Amazon FBA business in a shorter period of time.
